As a small-time shoemaker, I have always loved wearing comfortable and aesthetically pleasing shoes. Sadly, none of my boots and shoes seemed to really look good enough for me to wear outside the house. So how did I decide to make my own? Well, here is my story. If you decide that you want to design your own footwear as well, these are the steps I took that may or may not help you as much as they helped me: Step One: Make a list of what type of shoe it will be. Is it used for exercise? Will it be worn every day? Will it be worn for more formal occasions? Will you be walking or running in them, or just standing around? Step Two: Make a list of the objectives for this particular footwear. For example, if you're planning to run in your shoes, what kind of performance does your shoe need to have to meet the requirements of your sport? Perhaps you want a shoe that will increase your comfort and cushioning while you're running in them. Perhaps you want a lighter shoe that allows your feet to expand when they swell during exercise. Perhaps you want something else altogether depending on the type of exercise and racing style. Step Three: Determine the budget you have for this particular shoe. Step Four: Figure out what type of materials you'll be using to fill your shoe. For example, if you plan on making a running shoe, what materials will you need? Is it going to be canvas, leather or a synthetic material? Will these materials allow for a good amount of durability and flexibility? Can you find a suitable material at a reasonable price? When I had all my information that I'd been collecting from those questions above, I began to convert those into numbers that would eventually help me apply for grants from the state government. The first grant was 50% of the cost of certain materials amounting to about 7 dollars. That's when I began to plan out my shoe, which would need to serve the purpose of being a shoe you could run in for up to 400 miles. It needed to have a decent toe box and soles. It also needed to be durable enough that it wouldn't wear down quickly during use. Luckily my shoemaking expertise helped me come up with a plan that was not only simple enough but functional as well. The design is very simple, but what made it special is that they're built using the remains and inspiration from another pair of shoes (that I made) and my own shoe designs as well as those found through research on different kinds of shoes and old school shoemaking techniques . As a result, the shoes are not only comfortable and functional, but aesthetically pleasing as well. They fit my feet perfectly and they also come in two different sizes to accommodate different foot sizes. By the time I was done with my design, I had attained a shoe that could be worn every day or on more formal occasions. It could be used by anyone from runners to people who want something that is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing at the same time! The shoes consist of two major parts: the upper and the bottom. They're made from canvas, synthetic leather and rubber respectively, making them light weight but durable at the same time. cfa1e77820
